More block party!
Our street had a BLOCK PARTY!!!
Kathleen Bailey July 8 at 9:00am Hey all!
Long time, no post! But alas, here we are.
We are about 5 weeks into our journey – and it has been the most rewarding, exiting, crystallizing and enjoyable time of our lives. It has certainly brought us answers we were looking for, answers we weren’t and making us ask questions we otherwise wouldn’t. So that’s been a pretty cool experience.
The city gets more and more amazing each day. It’s so finely tuned and enjoyable to get around. However, it has been quite hot, which we are not the biggest fans of. If you thought the subway made Marisha sleepy, imagine the heat!
We have tried to get around to lots of things: bike store Rapha where we watched the Tour De France, we went to a Yankee’s game up in the Bronx, we went on the Staten Island Ferry and saw the Statue of Liberty up close, we went to a rooftop movie in East Village, hung about shopping in Williamsburg (preceded by $15.00 drunk brunch), went to a school open night and Marisha won $1500 worth of software, spent 4th of July at a street festival, hung out in Central Park eating hot dogs and whole foods, had drinks on our stoop and watched the world pass by, discover the greatest pizzeria of all time – Munchies, walked neighborhoods up and down – taking photo’s and admiring it all. It can be guaranteed where ever we go, someone comes up and talks to us about something or other – which is mostly cool, but occasionally you don’t realize what you got yourself in for i.e.; the man who gave us an article he had written and it turned out he was a full blown anarchist. Awkward, because we aren’t.
We also took the opportunity to see ‘Joan Rivers: A piece of work’ at the cinema over the weekend – which was a very inspiring movie. She is an amazing woman with an amazing story.
We are just continuing along and hopefully we will be getting through all the museums shortly which should be great, and also more Yankee’s games and other sights around the city. It’s sometimes hard to remember all the things we are doing and seeing, but we have hundreds of photo’s to document it thankfully!
We hope every one is doing well back home – miss you all – and let’s organize Skype dates and such!! Take care all!
Love,
Kath (and Marisha!)
Saw the Statue of Liberty! Pretty big!
We went to Staten Island on the ferry - and then we came straight back. Nothing to see at Staten Island - kinda dull.
